Describe
your family. How have they helped you in your athletic career?
I have a great family back home with my mom, dad, older
brother, and younger sister. They help support me in everything
I do. If it wasn’t for them and everything they have done
for me there is no way I’d be where I am today.
Describe any hardships or extenuation
circumstances that you have faced to get to where you are today.
Does a 4:15 AM wakeup call for practice the
last 4 years count? Because that is definitely one of the hardest
things I have ever done day in and day out
What made you decide to come
to PLU?
I wanted to get out of North Dakota and experience another
part of the country, and I had heard a number of good things about
PLU that eventually lead to my decision
Have you studied abroad? If
so, describe your experiences?
Yes, this last J-term I went to Tanzania, Africa where
we went on safari in the Serengeti, climbed to the top of Mt. Kilimanjaro,
and hung out on the island of Zanzibar. The experience was unbelievable.
Nothing can really describe the amazingness of what it was like
to be at the top of that mountain. It was three of the best weeks
of my life.
What has been your favorite
class at PLU?
As a biology major here at PLU I’ve found that either Christian
Theology 227 or Theological Studies: Can God Suffer? 364 with Dan
Peterson have been my favorite classes.
Have
you had any trouble balancing athletics with academics?
Surprisingly no. I’ve found it’s more of a
struggle balancing my social life with early morning practice. It’s
all about time management.
What are your plans after college?
Right now I plan on going to Boston for the summer to row.
From there I plan on finding a job in biology for the year while
I apply to med schools. Going to Europe at some point sounds fun
too.
When your athletic career is
all said and done, what is it that you would want people to say
about you?
I’d want them to say I was a hard worker who left
it all on the water.
Describe your hometown and
what you miss about it the most.
Well…I’m from Fargo, North Dakota where the
accents aren’t nearly as bad as the movie portrays. It’s
a good sized city with everything you could ask for. Mostly I miss
hot summer days, the common courtesy people have for each other,
the amazing sidewalks it provides, and every once in awhile I miss
the snow.
What's your favorite spot on
campus?
I’m a fan of the Names, there’s always a bunch
of good people there.
What is your favorite restaurant
in Tacoma?
Apple Teriyaki for sure! The Harmon and the Ram are cool too.
What music is playing in your
ipod right now?
A bunch of Dave’s new live stuff and Ben Folds.
