Eisentrout Helps USA to 37-19 Aztec Bowl
Victory
Andrew
Eisentrout capped his senior season with a solid performance as
the United States defeated Mexico, 37-19, in the annual Aztec Bowl
game played Saturday in Chihuahua, Mexico.
Eisentrout, a senior defensive end from Olympia, contributed five
tackles for the USA team, which consisted of players from NCAA Division
III institutions. Eisentrout was credited with two solo tackles,
three assists, a half tackle for loss and a forced fumble. The USA
defense limited the Mexico running game to 20 net yards on 29 carries.
Eisentrout became the fifth PLU player to participate in the event,
following quarterback Chad Johnson in 2000, offensive lineman Trevor
Roberts in 2001, wide receiver Kyle Brown in 2002 and offensive
lineman Kent Bailey in 2004. This honor comes two weeks after Eisentrout
was named co-Northwest Conference Defensive Player of the Year.
Eisentrout led the conference with 11.5 sacks this season, and his
14.5 tackles-for-loss were second only to teammate Robert Thomsen.
