Both Pacific Lutheran golf teams placed third in their respective
tournaments in the Northwest Conference North Division Fall Classic
held Oct. 7-8 at Oakbrook Country Club in Lakewood.
The PLU men shot a 27-hole total of 472 to finish 14 strokes behind
the Whitworth Pirates. Puget Sound was second with a 467 and Whitman
finished fourth with a 510 total. Leading the Lutes was Chris Packard
who fired a 112, two strokes off the pace set by medalist Jordan
Carter from Whitworth.
Whitworth also won the women’s team title with a 27-hole
total of 520, 21 strokes better than Puget Sound and 51 strokes
ahead of Pacific Lutheran. Whitman did not have a team score. Kayla
Madsen shot a 135 to record the low score for the Lutes. Puget Sound’s
Sarah Bicker led all competitors with a 128.
The tournament was scheduled as a 36-hole event, but Sunday's first
day was shortened to nine holes because of heavy rainfall and unplayable
conditions at the golf course.
