Note: Chris answered the
following questions during the spring 2007 season.
Chris Packard has been one of
the top golfers for PLU since his arrival. In 2006 he was the
UPS Invitational champion and also runner-up in the Boxer Invitational.
Describe
your family. How have they helped you in your athletic career?
My family has been very supportive of me and golf. Golf is an
expensive sport and they have always backed me financially and
they try to come to my tournaments whenever they can. Without
my family’s support, I wouldn't be where I am today academically
or athletically.
What made you decide to come
to PLU?
I had some friends that played on the golf team here and they
kind of recruited me I guess. At first I didn’t really like
PLU, but it has grown on me a lot and now I really enjoy everything
about the school.
What has been your favorite
class at PLU?
My favorite class was probably my freshman year, when I took Writing
for Communications, it was a 190 class with Joanne Lisosky and
she made it a lot of fun.
Have
you had any trouble balancing athletics with academics?
My freshman year I had a little trouble, but I have learned to
balance them really well now.
What are you plans after
college?
Well, my dream would be to play professional golf, but that will
require a lot more work and money, so if that doesn’t work
out then I would like to either start my own business or be the
president of marketing for a company. Either way, I want to make
tons of money!
When your athletic career
is all said and done, what is it that you would want people to
say about you?
I would want people to say that I was fun to be around and made
the golf team a better team.
Describe your hometown and
what you miss about it the most.
I’m from Gig Harbor, so it is pretty small but getting huge.
I miss my family and seeing them everyday, but it’s not
too far away.
What is your favorite restaurant
in Tacoma?
My favorite restaurant would have to be Kinza Teriyaki in Spanaway.
If you haven’t been there, you have to go there…so
good!
What music is playing in
your ipod right now?
Throw Some D’s the Kayne West Remix.
