TACOMA, Wash. – Linfield got a goal and an assist from Chris Paradis as the Wildcats knocked off the host Pacific Lutheran Lutes, 2-1, in a Northwest Conference men’s soccer match played Saturday afternoon at the PLU field.

With the win, Linfield improves to 6-2-2 overall and to 3-1-2 in the Northwest Conference. Pacific Lutheran, which lost for the third time in the last four matches, is now 6-4-0 overall and 3-2-0 in the conference.

Mattis Ostvold - scores PLU's lone goal

Paradis opened the scoring at the 12:37 mark, with Adam Jaffe providing the assist. Then, with the game still very much in doubt in the late going, Paradis found Josh Robinson, who scored to put the Wildcats ahead by a 2-0 count at 77:10.

The Lutes got one back at 84:30 when Mattis Ostvold notched his second goal of the season, with the assist going to Erik Gracey. Linfield was able to weather PLU’s last-gasp effort, however, and moved ahead of the Lutes in the conference standings. Linfield has 11 points on three wins and two ties, while the Lutes have nine points on three wins.

PLU out-shot the visitors, 12-9, though both teams put four on goal. Grant Williams made three saves to record the victory in goal, while PLU’s Andrew Croft finished with a pair of saves.

Pacific Lutheran returns to action Sunday, hosting Willamette at 2:30 p.m. in another Northwest Conference contest.
