Linfield Downs PLU, 2-1, In NWC Men’s
Soccer Match

TACOMA, Wash. – Linfield got a goal and an assist from Chris
Paradis as the Wildcats knocked off the host Pacific Lutheran Lutes,
2-1, in a Northwest Conference men’s soccer match played Saturday
afternoon at the PLU field.
With the win, Linfield improves to 6-2-2 overall and to 3-1-2 in
the Northwest Conference. Pacific Lutheran, which lost for the third
time in the last four matches, is now 6-4-0 overall and 3-2-0 in
the conference.

Paradis opened the scoring at the 12:37 mark, with Adam Jaffe providing
the assist. Then, with the game still very much in doubt in the
late going, Paradis found Josh Robinson, who scored to put the Wildcats
ahead by a 2-0 count at 77:10.
The Lutes got one back at 84:30 when Mattis
Ostvold notched his second goal of the season, with the assist
going to Erik Gracey.
Linfield was able to weather PLU’s last-gasp effort, however,
and moved ahead of the Lutes in the conference standings. Linfield
has 11 points on three wins and two ties, while the Lutes have nine
points on three wins.
PLU out-shot the visitors, 12-9, though both teams put four on
goal. Grant Williams made three saves to record the victory in goal,
while PLU’s Andrew
Croft finished with a pair of saves.
Pacific Lutheran returns to action Sunday, hosting Willamette at
2:30 p.m. in another Northwest Conference contest.
