Lubeck, Ferguson Named to d3kicks.com All-Region Squad

Senior defender Brian Lubeck (Glendale, Ariz. / Mountain Ridge HS) and senior forward Michael Ferguson (Lake Tapps, Wash. / Auburn Riverside HS) have earned d3kicks.com All-West Region honors. Lubeck was named to the first team and Ferguson received second team recognition.

Lubeck has been the cornerstone of a strong Lute defense for the past four seasons. The 2007 Northwest Conference Defensive Player of the Year and a three-year starter, Lubeck helped lead this year's team to a 0.90 goals against average, with only seven of those goals coming in conference play.

Ferguson, the 2007 Northwest Conference Offensive Player of the Year and a four-year starter, led the conference with 14 goals and in points with 33. With 49 career goals, he tied the school record set by Brian Gardner, who played at PLU from 1986-89. Ferguson earned All-NWC First Team honors for the third time, making him only the fourth player in PLU history to make the first team three different times.

The Lutes finished the season with a 13-6-1 overall record, the best by a PLU team since the 1997 squad went 14-6-2. PLU finished second in conference with an 11-2-1 record, the Lutes' best conference finish since the 1994 team placed second.
