Lutes Give Redlands a Tussle but Fall,
6-3
REDLANDS, Calif. - Pacific Lutheran gave the host Redlands Bulldogs
a tussle before dropping a 6-3 men's tennis match on Tuesday afternoon
at the University of Redlands courts.
The loss was the third in a row for the Lutes on the Spring Break
trip to California. Earlier, nationally ranked Point Loma Nazarene
and Trinity (Texas) got the measure of PLU.
Senior David Miller and junior Justin Larimore teamed up to win
their doubles point and also came out on top in their singles matches.
Miller and Larimore recorded an 8-6 win over Eric Wagar and Michael
Reading at No. 1 doubles. Miller then defeated Wager 7-6 (5), 2-6,
1-0 (10-6) in a super tiebreaker at No. 1 singles, and Larimore
defeated Chris Trippel 6-4, 6-4 at No. 4 singles.
The Lutes return to action at 2 p.m. Wednesday when they battle
Pomona-Pitzer. The team closes its California trip with a Friday
afternoon match against California Lutheran.
