PLU Pair Wins Consolation Final at Fall
ITA
McMINNVILLE, Ore. – James Crosetto and Jared Vidano won the
doubles consolation championship to highlight Pacific Lutheran’s
performance at the 2007 Wilson/ITA Regional Championships for men’s
tennis held here last weekend.
After losing their opening doubles match, Crosetto and Vidano won
three matches, including one by default, to reach the consolation
championship. In a closely contested match, the Lute duo beat Jasper
Follows and Robert Rye of Whitman, 9-8 (3).
As it did a year ago, Whitman dominated the regional event. The
Missionaries had seven of the eight quarterfinal spots in singles
and three of the four semifinal spots in doubles. Pacific Lutheran’s
Jeff Larimore was the only non-Whitman player among the final eight
in singles. The senior won three matches before losing to Whitman’s
Etienne Moshevich, 6-2, 7-6 (1). In doubles, Larimore and Justin
Peterson won three matches before losing to Whitman’s Nadeem
Kassam and Jake Cappell, 8-3.
