Lutes Finish Spring Break Trip With a Pair
of Losses

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Pacific Lutheran finished a difficult
spring break trip with a pair of losses on Thursday. In a morning
match played in Claremont, the Lutes fell to Middlebury (Vt.), 7-2.
Following that match they made the drive to Santa Barbara where
they lost to Harvard, 6-1.
Playing against nationally and regionally ranked opponents, the
Lutes concluded their spring break trip with a 0-5 record. Included
in the list of opponents was Point Loma Nazarene, ranked No. 11
in the NAIA, Redlands, ranked No. 11 in NCAA Division III, Middlebury,
ranked No. 5 in NCAA Division III, and Pomona-Pitzer, ranked eighth
in the Division III West Region. In addition, the Lutes, ranked
No. 29 in Division III, faced the second team from NCAA Division
I Harvard.
PLU’s No. 4 singles player, Michael Manser, concluded his
trip with three wins against Division III opponents and super-tiebreaker
losses to Point Loma and Harvard.
The Lutes return to action on Tuesday, April 2, when they host
Puget Sound at 3:30 p.m. at the PLU tennis courts. The Lutes are
10-10 overall and 10-2 and in second place in the Northwest Conference.
