Tauscher Earns First Team All-Conference

Theresa Tauscher, who hit .400 against conference pitching this
season, has earned first team All-Northwest Conference softball
honors as selected by the NWC coaches. PLU's Alana Schutt and Heather
Walling were named to the second team, and Beth Kenck was an honorable
mention pick.
Tauscher, a sophomore outfielder from Auburn, had one home run
and 13 runs batted in as the Lutes finished with an 11-17 conference
record, good for sixth place. Tauscher’s overall numbers were
even better as she led the Lutes in batting average (.461), home
runs (5) and runs batted in (29).
Schutt, a senior from Lynnwood who played first base and second
base during the season, was at her best against the conference,
hitting .308 with two homers and 13 RBI. She was named to the second
team as a utility player. For the season she hit .282 with two homers
and 17 RBI. Walling, a sophomore from Bonney Lake who played centerfield
and third base, hit .284 and had 11 steals in Northwest Conference
play and .292 with 15 steals for the season. She was selected as
an outfielder. Kenck, a senior from Vancouver who played left field
and second base, hit .253 with one homer and 13 RBI against the
conference and .269 with 19 runs batted in overall. She was named
to the honorable mention list as an infielder.
Pacific Lutheran finished the season with a 17-18 overall record.
