Lutes Split NWC Dual Meet With The Missionaries

Pacific Lutheran and Whitman split a Northwest Conference swim
dual Saturday, the Lute men winning 125-77 and the Missionary women
coming out on top 109-96.
Sophomore Andy
Stetzler led the charge for the men’s squad by
winning both the 200 freestyle in a season best time of 1:48.96
followed by a win in the 100 freestyle (50.18). Stetzler was also
part of the winning 400 yard medley relay (3:50.37). Other individual
event winners included freshman Luke
Weinbrecht in the 50 yard freestyle (23.12), freshman
Ben Lilley
in the 500 yard freestyle (5:09.17), and senior Jason
Hesla in the 200 yard breaststroke (2:21.27).
Once again it was freshman Jessie
Donovan who had the most outstanding performance of
the day. The highlight of her three individual victories was the
200 backstroke. Her time of 2:11.05 is a season best. Donovan also
won the 200 freestyle (2:05.21) and the 200 individual medley (2:18.91).
Freshman Mica
Bailey was another multi event winner after she won
the 50 yard freestyle (26.20) and the 100 freestyle (56.48). Bailey
was also part of the winning 400 yard freestyle relay (3:57.71).
The Lute men moved up to 5-2 while the women’s squad dropped
to 3-4. Pacific Lutheran is back in action next Saturday when the
Lutes travel to Idaho to take on Albertson College in a non-conference
match up.
