SWIMMING: Lutes Open Season With Two Weekend Events

THIS WEEK: Pacific Lutheran at NWC Sprint Pentathlon, Portland, Ore., Friday, 5 p.m.; PLU at NWC Relays, McMinnville, Ore., Saturday, 11 a.m.

LUTES OPEN 2006-07 SEASON: The Pacific Lutheran swimming teams open their 2006-07 season this weekend with a pair of events in the state of Oregon. On Friday, the Lutes go against other Northwest Conference teams at the NWC Sprint Pentathlon hosted by Lewis & Clark College. The Sprint Pentathlon starts at 5 p.m. On Saturday, the team heads to nearby Linfield College in McMinnville, Ore., for the NWC Relays. That event gets underway at 11 a.m.

CALIFORNIA TRIP AHEAD: The Lutes travel to Southern California next weekend for the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational in Claremont, Calif. The Saturday event is hosted by Pomona-Pitzer College and will feature a number of teams from the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

DUAL MEETS START IN NOVEMBER: PLU’s dual meet schedule gets underway on Friday, Nov. 10, when the Lutes host the University of Puget Sound Loggers at the PLU Pool. The event gets underway at 6 p.m.
