Stetzler Named NWC Men’s Swimmer of the Week

Andy Stetzler won two individual events and anchored the winning 400 freestyle relay team to lead the Pacific Lutheran Lutes to a surprising 103-102 Northwest Conference men’s swimming victory last Friday. On Monday, the conference named Stetzler as the Men’s Swimmer of the Week.

Stetzler won the 1000 freestyle (10:30.14), the 500 freestyle (5:00.64) and also swam the second leg on the winning 400 freestyle relay team as the Lutes gave head coach Jim Johnson, in his 29th year, only his second victory against Puget Sound.

PLU freshman Mica Bailey earned honorable mention recognition as NWC Women’s Swimmer of the Week after winning the 50 freestyle (25.87), the 100 freestyle (56.52) and swimming the anchor leg as PLU pulled out the victory in the 400 freestyle relay (3:50.30).
