Newcomers Lead PLU Performance at NWC Sprint

Meet Results
WALLA WALLA, Wash. – A pair of newcomers recorded the top
performances for Pacific Lutheran on Friday night at the Northwest
Conference Sprint Pentathlon hosted by Whitman College.
Jessie Klauder, a freshman from Mazama High School in Klamath Falls,
Ore., finished fourth in the women’s division with a combined
time of 3:02.52. Another Jessie, PLU’s outstanding sophomore
Jessie Donovan from Mount Vernon, placed sixth with a combined time
of 3:03.41. Brittany Gressett of Whitworth took first with a 2:56.93.
In the men’s division, Pacific Lutheran’s top performance
came from Jay Jones, a freshman from Mountain View High School in
Vancouver. Jones had a combined time of 2:39.59, with the victory
going to Whitworth’s Michael Woodward with a 2:35.83.
Each of the swimmers compete in the 100 individual medley and the
50 butterfly, 50 backstroke, 50 breaststroke and 50 freestyle, with
their times in each event combined for a total time.
Pacific Lutheran joins the other Northwest Conference teams in
the second part of the season kickoff, the Northwest Conference
Relays, on Saturday. That event is also hosted by Whitman College
and will get underway at 11 a.m.
