Lutes Sweep Pacific in Conference Swimming

Meet Results
FOREST GROVE - Pacific Lutheran rode the strength of sheer numbers
to a sweep of a Northwest Conference swimming meet with the host
Pacific Boxers on Friday night. The PLU men beat the Boxers, 138-59,
while the Lute women won by a score of 145-48.
With the victories, the Lute men improve to 2-0 in conference while
the women are now 1-1.
Freshman Jay Jones led the PLU men with a pair of victories, taking
top honors in the 400-yard individual medley (4:27.56) and the 200-yard
breaststroke (2:17.00). Jones also swam a leg on PLU's winning 400
medley relay team (3:46.64). Other PLU winners in the men's competition
were Bryce Manso in the 1000 freestyle (11:57.51), Ben Lilly in
the 50 freestyle (22.68), Alex Limoges in the 200 butterfly (2:12.94),
Andy Stetzler in the 100 freestyle (49.79), and Luke Thomas in the
500 freestyle (5:01.42).
Another Lute freshman, Jessie Klauder, paced the Lute women with
a pair of victories, winning the 400-yard individual medley (4:50.95)
and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:35.41). Other PLU winners were
Alyssa Zakzewski in the 1000 freestyle (12:46.02), Dayna Blauvelt
in the 200 freestyle (2:07.02), Laura Brade in the 200 butterfly
(2:26.00), Tara Johnson in the 100 freestyle (1:00.96), and Casey
Jackson in the 200 backstroke (2:22.88). The Lutes also won the
400 medley relay (4:25.71) and the 400 freestyle relay (3:55.41)
Pacific Lutheran returns to action at 1 p.m. Saturday with a Northwest
Conference dual against Linfield in McMinnville, Ore.
