Meet
Results
McMINNVILLE, Ore. - The Pacific Lutheran women and
the Linfield men won by convincing scores in a Northwest Conference
swim meet held Saturday afternoon at the Linfield College pool.
The Lute women improved to 2-1 in conference action
with a resounding 147-55 victory over the hosts. With four swimmers
each winning a pair of events, the Wildcats won the men's event,
120-84. With the loss, PLU falls to 2-1 in NWC dual meets.
Freshman Jessie Klauder had a big day for the Lute
women, winning the 200 individual medley (2:17.30), the 100 freestyle
(56.09) and the 500 freestyle (5:32.39). Other PLU women winning
events were Tara Johnson in the 1000 freestyle (11:50.53), Dayna
Blauvelt in the 50 freestyle (26.77), Jessie Donovan in the 100
backstroke (1:01.35) and Lacey Wear in the 100 breaststroke (1:13.70).
In addition, the Lutes also won both the 200 medley relay (time
not listed) and the 200 freestyle relay (1:46.12). In all, the Lutes
won nine of the 11 events.
On the men's side of things, Linfield's Josh Parfitt,
Kevin Caple, Dominic Rieniets and Yusuke Kobayashi each won a pair
of events, and that foursome combined to hold off the Lutes to win
the 200 freestyle relay. That gave the Wildcats wins in nine of
the 11 events. Pacific Lutheran's victories came in the opening
event, the 200 medley relay (1:44.77), and from freshman Jay Jones
in the 100 breaststroke (1:01.02).
The Lutes return to action at 1 p.m. next Saturday
when they host the Whitman Missionaries in another Northwest Conference
dual meet.
