FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The University of Alaska swept
a pair of women's dual swim meets from Pacific Lutheran during the
weekend, winning 134-70 on Saturday and 126-79 on Sunday.
The wins were the first of the season for the NCAA
Division II Nanooks, who are now 2-4 in duals. Pacific Lutheran
saw a three-meet win streak come to an end and is now 3-3 this season.
On Saturday, Dayna Blauvelt won the 50 freestyle (27.25)
but was the only Pacific Lutheran swimmer to win an event. The Lutes
had more success on Sunday with three event victories. Jessie Klauder
won two of those, taking the 1650 freestyle (19:07.86) and the 200
breaststroke (2:40.44), while Casey Jackson was victorious in the
200 backstroke (2:19.06).
With finals coming up this week, the Lutes won't return
to the pool until just after the Christmas break. They will travel
to California for training before taking on Cal Lutheran in a Jan.
