April 10, 2007 Lutes Finish Day One of NWC Multi-Event Championship SALEM, ORE – A pair of Lutes made the trip to Willamette University to compete in the 2007 Northwest Conference Multi-Event Championships yesterday afternoon. After one day of competition junior Rebecca Lewis is in 12th place out of 12 athletes. Sophomore Jeff Rockenbrant was entered in the decathlon put was only able to finish one event due to injury. Rockenbrant ran the 100-meter dash in a time of 17.63. Lewis was able to compile 1,303 points after competing in four events. Lewis was able to garner the most points in the 200-meter dash where she ran a time of 30.27 seconds, good for 463 points. She also competed in the Shot Put (21-2), high jump (4-05), and 100-meter hurdles (23:45). The final day of the NWC Multi-Event Championships is scheduled
for Tuesday, April 10. The final five decathlon events (100-meter
hurdles, discus throw, pole vault, javelin throw, 1,500-meter run)
will be held, along with the final three events in the heptathlon
(long jump, javelin throw, 800-meter run). - PLU -
