Araya Moves to No. 9 in Nation in 400 Hurdles
Meet Results
SEATTLE – Two weeks ago Faven Araya shocked the Lute faithful
when she hit the provisional mark in the 400-meter hurdles. Last
week in Seattle Araya ran the eighth fastest time in PLU history
as she moved into the top 12 in the nation. This week she did not
disappoint as she ran a lifetime best of 1:02.46 at the Ken Foreman
Invitational in West Seattle.
Araya, a sophomore, knocked off more than eight-tenths of a second
off her previous best mark. The improved time is good for ninth
place in the nation, moving her up from 13th place. Araya is a strong
contender for the national meet scheduled for May 24-26 in Oshkosh,
Wis. Araya also moves to fifth on PLU’s All-Time top 25 list.
Other highlights of the day included Megan Wochnick and Taylor
Hacker going one-two in the women’s hammer throw, despite
both being off their seasonal best mark. Wochnick threw 155-00 while
Hacker’s toss was 151-10.
The Lutes will finish up the regular season next week at the Last
Chance meet hosted by Willamette University. The meet will be held
on May 16 with action starting at 3:30 p.m.
