Lutes Preparing for the Shotwell Invitational

THIS WEEK: The Pacific Lutheran track & field team will be competing at the Shotwell Invitational on Saturday. The meet is hosted by Puget Sound and the first event starts at 10 a.m.

MOOG WINS THREE EVENTS: Isaac Moog had an outstanding performance at the Charles Bowles Spring Break Classic hosted by Willamette University. The freshman from Centralia won three of the four events he competed in leading PLU to an overall impressive showing. On the track, Moog won the 400-meter dash, improving his season best time to 50.20. Moog’s time places him 20th on the PLU all-time top 25 list. He is the first athlete to make the list since 2003. Off the track, Moog won both the long jump (21-09) and the triple jump (43-00.25). Moog’s mark in the triple jump is the fourth longest in the Northwest Conference this season. Other event winners include Faven Araya, who won both the women's 100-meter hurdles (15.77) and 400-meter hurdles (64.92). Amy LeBrun finished first out of 22 runners in the 200-meter dash (26.25) while placing second in the 100-meter dash (12.77), setting a seasonal best. Joining Araya and LeBrun were Lynette Millard and Lakia Arceneaux to form the winning 4x100-meter relay (50.14). On the field, Taylor Hacker won the hammer throw (159-06).

OREGON PREVIEW: A small contingent of Pacific Lutheran track and field athletes competed at the Oregon Preview in Eugene. The team also competed the day before at the Charles Bowles Invitational, but the Lutes shook off their fatigue and were able to set some season best marks. Sprinters Lakia Arceneax and Amy LeBrun both ran their fastest times of the season in the shorter events. Arceneax posted a 12.85 in the 100-meter dash while LeBrun ran a 26.46 in the 200-meter dash. Faven Araya ran a lifetime best in the 100-meter hurdles. Her time of 15.48 moves her up to the 15th spot on the all-time top 25 list. Araya also improved on her season best mark in the 400-meter hurdles with a 1:03.63 performance.

MULTI-EVENTS: Pacific Lutheran freshman Lakie Arceneaux placed seventh in the heptathlon at the Linfield Decathlon-Heptathlon meet held Monday and Tuesday, March 24-25.
