Athletes Battle the Heat at PLU Invitational
Results
PARKLAND – Despite very warm conditions, several athletes
were able to keep their cool and set some impressive marks at the
Pacific Lutheran Invitational held today at the PLU campus track.
PLU freshman Isaac Moog won three events, starting with a victory
in the 400-meter dash in a personal best time of 49.49. Moog followed
up that performance with a 22.89 run in the 200-meter dash. Off
the track, Moog won the long jump with a 21-4 effort. Winding up
the day, the freshman from Centralia anchored the winning 4x400
relay team.
The only other multi-event winner was Saint Martin’s Sam
Washington who won the shot put with a heave of 50-08, along with
taking the discus with a 143-04 mark.
In one of the first events of the day Sarna Becker of Club Northwest
won the women’s 3000-meter steeplechase in a time of 10:46.14.
Becker was aiming for a USA Olympic Trials B standard of 10:20 but
came up short.
The Pacific Lutheran track team will compete at the Northwest Conference
Championships next weekend. The meet will take place on Friday and
Saturday, being hosted by George Fox.
