Arceneaux Named NWC Track Athlete of the
Week
 |
| Lakia Arceneaux |
Freshman Lakia Arceneaux has been selected as the Northwest Conference
Women’s Track Athlete of the Week for the week ending April
13, 2008. Arceneaux ran season best times in both the 100 and 200-meter
dash at the Pacific Lutheran Invitational last Saturday.
A Puyallup native out of Emerald Ridge High School, Arceneaux’s
won the 100-meter dash last weekend at the PLU invite in a time
of 12.76. She followed up that performance by running another season
best time of 26.22 in the 200-meter dash, good for second place.
Both marks were good enough to move Arceneaux into the top-25 lists,
placing her 22nd in the 100 and 21st in the 200.
With the Northwest Conference Championships taking place this weekend
Arceneaux couldn’t have picked a better time to peak. Look
for Arceneaux to pick up some major points at the conference meet
as she is ranked fifth in the 100 and third in the 200. Arceneaux
is also a key component to the women’s 4x100-meter relay team.
The women’s 4x100 team won the conference title in 2006 and
finished runner-up last spring.
