Last year as a freshman, Faven jumped onto the Northwest Conference track scene in a big way by earning all-conference honors in the 400-meter hurdles and running on PLU's winning 4x100-meter relay team. This year she is again one of the top hurdlers in the NWC after finishing runner up in the 400-meter hurdles at the conference meet. Faven’s times have moved her to eighth on PLU’s all-time top 25 list in the 400-meter hurdles and she met the provisional mark for the NCAA Division III national meet.

Describe your family. How have they helped you in your athletic career?
My parents were never really exposed to athletics, so when they had my brother and I, it was just as exciting for them as it was for us. My brother and I fell in love with sports the second we started playing, and it quickly became something that intrigued my parents as well. Since then my family has been my biggest fans coming to my basketball games and track meets; they have always been there for me supporting and encouraging me. It has been a lot harder for them to see me run now that I am in college, but they are always supporting me no matter where I am. My friends here have become my family and have been my support system throughout my athletic career and college experience. I couldn't have gotten where I am without either of them. I am definitely blessed!

What made you decide to come to PLU?
My goal is to major in Pre-Medicine to become a pediatrician, and PLU has a great science program and a great staff that knows how prepare me to get where I want to be.

What has been your favorite class at PLU?
My favorite class would have to be the Comparative Anatomy class that I am taking right now. It's by far the toughest class I've taken, but learning about how the body functions and how every thing has developed is really interesting for me. I really enjoy it!

Have you had any trouble balancing athletics with academics?
I feel like being an athlete and a student has always and will always be a challenge. It's tough finding a balance between the two, but I can't imagine not being a part of athletics. Running track has made me a better student; it allows me to step out of the student mind-set for a while and allows me to free my mind and relax.

What are you plans after college?
My plans after college are to hopefully get accepted to medical school to eventually become a pediatrician. It’s been a dream of mine for quite some time, and I feel like every day is just one step closer to that dream. I know I have a long way to go, but it‘s definitely something that I want to do.

When your athletic career is all said and done, what is it that you would want people to say about you?
I would want people to say that I was someone who worked really hard to get to where I am, and that I was someone who was relentless and took on every challenge. I hope that my teammates can remember me as someone who inspired them to be better, and that I was able to make their season memorable.

What's your favorite spot on campus?
Either the Morken Center or Rieke. They are the only places I can get anything done without any distractions.

What is your favorite restaurant in Tacoma?
Probably Mazatlan; it's ironic because I don't like Mexican food, but they have great bean burritos!

What music is playing in your ipod right now?
Nothing like a little Justin Timberlake!
