Lutes Open Colorado Tournament With Two Wins

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. – It was a good day on Friday for Pacific Lutheran University sports teams at Colorado College.

In addition to a stunning 6-0 upset win for the PLU men’s soccer team over Colorado College, the Lute volleyball squad won both its matches at the 2006 Molten Volleyball/Wyndham Hotel CC Invitational hosted by Colorado College.

Pacific Lutheran easily defeated Concordia (Texas), 30-9, 30-13, 30-21, and then knocked off No. 25-ranked Elmhurst (Ill.), 30-26, 30-27, 30-21. With the wins, the Lutes improve their season record to 4-2.

PLU and Linfield, the only unbeaten teams among the five in the tournament, play at 2 p.m. Friday. The Lutes close out the tournament against the host school at 6 p.m.
