| Nikki Johnson |
Nikki Johnson,
the reigning Northwest Conference Player of the Year for women’s
basketball, has started this year right where she left off last
season. Johnson, a senior wing, has earned NWC Player of the Week
honors after recording a pair of double-doubles in Pacific Lutheran
wins over Cal Lutheran and Oglethorpe at the UPS Tip-Off Classic
last weekend.
Johnson, named the tournament MVP, scored 15 points and grabbed
16 rebounds in the Lutes’ 64-55 win over Cal Lutheran, and
then added 22 points and 12 rebounds in their 73-70 victory over
Oglethorpe.
Last year, Johnson earned NWC Player of the Week honors in the
first week of the season after being named MVP at the Redlands Tip-Off
tournament.
She leads the Lutes into games against NCAA Division II foes Western
Washington (5 p.m. Friday) and St. Martin's (1 p.m. Saturday) this
weekend at the WWU Lynda Goodrich Invitational in Bellingham.
