defeated Pacific Lutheran University, 68-61, in first-day action
Friday at the 10th annual Western Washington University Lynda Goodrich
Women’s Basketball Classic on Haggen Court at Sam Carver Gymnasium.
Western, ranked No.16 in NCAA Division II preseason top 25, improved
to 2-1 with the triumph. Center Clare Pallansch had 15 points and
12 rebounds for the Vikings, and guard Mollie Stelmack added 11
points, all of them in the last five minutes.

The score was tied five times in the final five minutes, with the
final deadlock at 59-59. PLU center Kezia Long broke that deadlock

throw. Stelmack hit two free throws to give the Vikings a 62-61
lead with 1:22 to play, then hit a 3-pointer with 44 seconds left,
