Lutes Sluggish in 55-45 Non-League Victory

The Pacific Lutheran women’s basketball team struggled to
get in a groove but was still victorious against the Evergreen State
Geoducks. The Lutes beat the visiting Geoducks, 55-45, in a non-conference
game played Friday night in Olson Auditorium.
Pacific Lutheran (5-2 overall) was paced Kezia
Long who shot 7-of-11 from the field and scored 17
points. She also led all players with nine rebounds as the Lutes
won that battle, 35-31. PLU shot 11-of -15 from the free throw line
and shot 42 percent from the field. Defensively, the Lutes created
18 turnovers.
The Lutes led by as many as 16 points on two occasions in the second
half, the second at 53-37 on a pair of free throws by Melissa Richardson
with 4:15 left in the game. The Geoducks battled back and finally
pulled within 10 points on Danielle Keenan's layup with 24 seconds
to play.
For the Geoducks (2-6), Keenan came off the bench to score 13 points,
and Jenny Olson added 12 in the loss. Jennifer Solberg led Evergreen
with eight rebounds.
Tomorrow night the Lutes Host Corban College in a non-conference
match up. The game will start at 7 p.m in Olson Auditorium.
