Johnson Earns NWC Player of Week Honor
 |
| Nikki Johnson |
For the second time this season, Pacific Lutheran senior wing Nikki
Johnson (Tenino, Wash. / Centralia CC) has earned Northwest
Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week honors.
Johnson received the award after scoring a career-high 32 points
and grabbing 10 rebounds in PLU’s 84-47 non-conference win
over Northwest University on Saturday, Dec. 16. In that game, Johnson
tied a school record with 13 field goals (in 17 attempts), and her
32 points is the sixth-best single-game total in PLU women’s
basketball history. Johnson made all nine of her second half field
goal attempts in leading the Lutes to the easy win.
The 2006 Northwest Conference Player of the Year, Johnson received
NWC Player of the Week recognition on Nov. 21 after leading PLU
to a pair of victories and earning MVP honors at the Tip-Off Classic
hosted by the University of Puget Sound.
Johnson and Lutes return to action tonight at Concordia-Portland,
and then host the PLU Classic on Dec. 29-30 in Olson Auditorium.
