Women’s Basketball:
Lutes, 3-1 This Season, Host Concordia
THIS WEEK: The Pacific Lutheran
women’s basketball team hosts Concordia at 6 p.m. Friday
in Olson Auditorium. (Note: The
game has been postponed until 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15.)
The following day PLU will travel to Olympia to take on Evergreen.
Game time is set for 5:30 p.m.
ABOUT CONCORDIA: The Cavaliers
come to PLU with a 3-5 overall record including a loss to NWC
foe Willamette. The Lutes will have to watch out for Concordia’s
Danielle Clauson who has been averaging 15.3 points and 5.5 rebounds
a game, both team highs for the Cavaliers. Ann Snodderly and Kelsey
Schaefer are both averaging more than nine points a game. PLU
could look to hurt Concordia from behind the arc as the Cavaliers
have given up 52 three-pointers to their opponents this season
while only making 12 themselves. PLU currently holds a five- game
win streak against Concordia, including a 64-41 win last season.
The Cavaliers last came out on top against the Lutes in 1995 when
they won 61-55.

LUTES TOP KNIGHTS: Behind senior
Kyle Haag’s 20-point performance, Pacific Lutheran beat
visiting Warner Pacific 64-36 last week in a non-conference women’s
basketball game. The Lutes put together a 12-0 run at the start
of the game and never looked back. Warner Pacific didn’t
score its first points until seven minutes to make the score 12-2.
That was the closest Warner would come to PLU the rest of the
night. The first half was all PLU as seven different players contributed
baskets, including Haag who tallied 13 points and went 3-of-7
from behind the arc. The Lutes led much of the first half and
a three-pointer at the 13-minute mark by Haag gave the black and
gold a 22 point lead. The Knights staged a comeback as Sally Brown
scored two layups to finish the half, pulling Warner Pacific within
12 going into the locker room. Amy Spieker caught on fire in the
second half, scoring 11 of her 14 points while adding a team-high
five assists. A jumper from junior Meghan Dowling gave PLU a 20-point
lead six minutes into the second half. Warner Pacific couldn’t
over come its cold shooting as it went 0-for-13 from three-land.
As a team Warner shot just under 29 percent from the field. Dowling
was in double digits in the point column as she scored 10. Dowling,
along with teammate Emily Voorhies, grabbed eight boards for the
Lutes, giving PLU the advantage in rebounds, 52-to-35.
HAAG HONORED: Senior Kyle Haag
was named Northwest Conference Player of the Week because of her
outstanding performance in the Warner Pacific game. Haag scored
20 points on 8-of-15 shooting, including four three-pointers.
This is the Lutes' first Player of the Week honors this season.
Haag earned honorable mention two weeks ago.
