Roeder's Goal Lifts PLU Past Cal Lutheran,

SALEM, OR -- Nicole Roeder scored the only goal
of the match at the 81:55 mark as Pacific Lutheran defeated California Lutheran, 1-0, in
a non-conference women's soccer match played Thursday night at the Willamette University field.
Roeder, a senior midfielder from Renton, scored
from 20 yards out following a PLU free kick. Lauren Northcutt, a sophomore midfielder
from Bothell, flicked the free kick from senior defender Breann Vanden
Bos to Roeder, and her shot to the upper left corner beat Cal Lutheran goalie Diana Molthen.
Amanda Tschauner, PLU's sophomore goalkeeper from
Yakima, stopped three Cal Lutheran shots to pick up the shutout. The Lutes, now 2-1,
have blanked two of their three opponents this season.
PLU finished with a 15-12 shot advantage and also
had five shots on goal to three for the Regals.
The Lutes return to action at 1 p.m. Saturday when
they play Evergreen State in Olympia.
