Lutes Give Willamette Tough Battle but

SALEM, Ore. - In women's soccer on Friday, Oct. 3, Willamette University
defeated Pacific Lutheran University, 1-0, in a Northwest Conference
game. Willamette improved to 15-2-2 on the season and to 12-2-1
in the NWC. Pacific Lutheran dropped to 11-6-2 on the season, 8-5-2
in the NWC.
The game's only goal was scored by Jessica Lammers just 3:37 into
the game on a volley shot, as she received a pass from Susan Butler,
who received an assist on the play. It was Lammers' fourth goal
of the season.
Willamette goalkeeper Kari Woody made three saves to record her
10th solo shutout of the season. She also has two shared shutouts,
with Willamette earning a total of 12 shutouts so far this season.
Pacific Lutheran's goalkeeper, Alyssa Blackburn, also registered
three saves.
Willamette outshot PLU, 12-9 overall, including 8-2 in the first
half. The Bearcats held a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks and a slim
4-3 edge in shots on goal.
