Hagerott Ties Assist Record as Whitworth Beats PLU 2-0

Box Score

SPOKANE, Wash. - Whitney Ramsey scored twice and Jael Hagerott tied Whitworth University's career record for assists with a 2-0 win over visiting Pacific Lutheran University in a Northwest Conference women's soccer match played Sunday afternoon at the Whitworth Soccer Field.

The Pirates improved to 15-2 overall and 12-2 in the NWC. It is the second most wins in Whitworth women's soccer history, behind only 1996 when the Bucs finished 16-5-2. The Lutes fell to 4-12-2, 3-10-1.

After a scoreless first half, Ramsey took a long pass forward from Sarah Brogden-Thome and took one dribble around her defender before slotting a shot past PLU keeper Amanda Tschauner in the 67th minute.

About 10 minutes later Hagerott threaded a pass through the Lute defense to Ramsey, who beat Tschauner to the near post with her shot in the 78th minute.

The assist was the 26th of Hagerott's career, tying Haley Nichols (1993-1996) on the all-time Pirate list. Ramsey's goals were her fourth and fifth of the season.

Whitworth outshot PLU 17-7, including a 7-2 advantage in shots on goal. Tschauner made five saves for the Lutes, while Leah Motz made both saves for the Pirates.
