Lutes Beat Willamette, Improve to 8-3 in
NWC
SALEM, Ore. - Pacific Lutheran improved its Northwest Conference
women's tennis record to 8-3 by defeating Willamette, 6-3, on Saturday
at the Courthouse Tennis Club. The Lutes are now 10-3 for the season,
while Willamette falls to 5-11 overall and 4-8 in the NWC.
Senior Nicole Petrzelka moved ahead of Erika Feltus into the No.
1 singles and came away a winner, beating Susan Butler by a 6-2,
7-5 score. Feltus was also a winner at No. 2 singles, defeating
Tiffany Kam 6-7 (1), 6-2, 6-3. Petrzelka and Feltus defeated Kam
and Alaine Anderson at No. 1 doubles, 8-5.
Other PLU doubles winners were Ashley Coats and Bria Smith at No.
2 doubles. Lutes winning their singles matches were Smith at No.
4 and Ashley Brooks at No. 6.
A scheduling conflict means that Sunday's match against Puget Sound
on the PLU courts has been postponed until a later date.
