Lutes Shut Down Whittier Poets, 9-0
WHITTIER, Calif. - One day after being shut out by No. 10-ranked
Redlands, Pacific Lutheran returned the favor to Whittier, beating
the Poets by a 9-0 score.
The Lutes lost only seven games in sweeping the three doubles points.
In singles play, two of the six matches went to super-tiebreaker
and the Lutes won those as well. After splitting a pair of 6-4 sets
at No.1 singles with Whittier's Jennifer Pigott, PLU's Erika Feltus
won the super-tiebreaker, 10-3. PLU's Morgan Jones won a super-tiebreaker
at No. 6 singles, 10-7, after winning the first set 6-4 and dropping
the second 6-3.
The Lutes' match scheduled for Tuesday afternoon at Vanguard has
been canceled. PLU concludes its Spring Break swing to California
on Wednesday with a match at Cal Lutheran.
