Coats Wins Singles Consolation Title at Women’s Tennis Fall ITA

SALEM, Ore. – Ashley Coats won the women’s singles consolation title to highlight Pacific Lutheran’s efforts at the 2007 Wilson/ITA Regional Championships hosted by Willamette University.

Coats, a sophomore from Gig Harbor, lost her first singles match to Linfield’s Molly Donohue to fall into the consolation bracket. From there, she defeated five opponents, including Willamette’s Jamie Slonaker, to take the title. Coats defeated Slonaker by a 6-1, 6-2 score.

PLU senior Erika Feltus advanced to the singles quarterfinal round before losing, and Feltus and Coats got as far as the doubles semifinals before being eliminated.
