Lorrie Wood, who has been playing or teaching tennis for
29 years, was named the interim head coach of the Pacific
Lutheran University women’s tennis team on July 12,
2007. Wood steps in for Janel McFeat, who resigned after five
years as the head coach.
Wood played USTA tournaments throughout high school and college.
In 1979-80 she played No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles at Green
River Community College, placing first at regionals and second
at state among Washington community colleges. Wood played
at the University of Washington from 1981-82, earning one
varsity letter.
Wood's first job was at Tennis World in Seattle, the largest
Indoor club in the world with 22 tennis courts. She has been
an assistant coach with the Gig Harbor High School boys tennis
program since 2005, at the same time serving as the Fox Island
Community junior tennis program’s head instructor.
Wood lives on Fox Island with her husband and two sons.
