SALEM, OR – Pacific Lutheran finished 22nd in the women's
race and 30th in the men's race at the annual Willamette Invitational
held Saturday morning at Bush's Pasture Park.
Concordia University of California won the 32-team women's competition
with 52 total points. The Lutes women scored 550 points to finish
22nd. Sophomore Michele
Hegg placed 68th overall to pace the Lutes, finishing
the 5000-meter course in a time of 19:25.35. Junior Lauren
McDonald was 80th in a time of 19:35.81, and freshman
Katie Choate
was close behind, placing 85th in a time of 19:38.05. Rounding out
the top five for PLU were sophomore Lexie
Miller, 167th in a time of 20:31.30, and Chelsea
Berdahl, 222nd in a time of 21:29.15.
Concordia had a sweep, also winning the 31-team men's competition
with 37 points. The Lutes scored a total of 856 team points. Junior
Kenneth Chilcoat
had the best time for the Lutes over the 8000-meter course, running
27:30.00 to finish 176th.
