Communication

Communication

"Take advantage of every opportunity to practice your communication skills so that when important occasions arise, you will have the gift, the style, the sharpness, the clarity, and the emotions to affect other people."

~Jim Rohn

Current Issues in Human Resource Management

Last Spring I had the opportunity to take Current Issues in Human Resource Management.  I feel this class emphasized communication and I have become a better speaker and writer because of it.  We had to keep weekly journals on the HR topics we are reading and talking about, which I have included below.

Strategic Leadership of Ethical Behavior in Business

I had the opportunity to research, write a paper, and present on strategic leadership of ethical behavior in business.  I was able to to utilize both my written and communication skills and felt this project was enjoyable and one of my better piece of work.  The powerpoint presentation is included below that I used in presenting my findings to my class.

Leaders as Shapers of Organizational Culture

Last year I worked with a team to research and develop a presentation to teach our class on the topic of leaders as shapers of organizational culture.  The presentation was an hour and a half and is the longest presentation I have done this far at PLU.  We presented on this topic and then involved the class by having them split into groups to do different activities that we had created.  Below is a copy of the presentation we created and shared with our class.

Communication is essential to succeed in today's business world.  Written and oral communication have both been stressed in all the classes i have taken in the at the University's School of Business.
