Critical/Creative Thinking

Critical and Creative Thinking

"I like thinking big. If you're going to be thinking anything, you might as well think big."
~Donald Trump

Entrepreneurship

Fall semester I took the entrepreneurship class offered at PLU. I found this class really helped me think creatively, as well as, creatively about forming a business. This class is an "intensive study of issues and challenges associated with start-up, growth and maturation of a new enterprise.  Issues covered include topics such as characteristics of successful entrepreneurs, securing capital, managing rapid growth, leadership succession, and realizing value through merger of sale of business."  For our final term project I created a  business plan and a feasibility analysis that allowed me to further develop my business concept, as well as, provide me with useful tools that will hopefully help me in creating a successful business.

Since I was little, I have always been interested in fashion. I have been designing and sewing since I was ten.  When I was in middle school I created my own little business where I would sew and sell skirts to girls at school.

I have worked for a variety of small businesses including one in womens retail, where I discovered my desire to open my own womens fashion boutique.

Philosophy

I also had the opportunity to take Business Philosophy at PLU as well.  I feel this class challenged me to really open my mind and think critically.  This class made me really consider perspectives I was yet to think about.  I have included a paper,
which I wrote that I feel challenged me to think critically and evaluate different perspectives.

Philosophy Paper

I believe that in almost every business class I have taken at PLU, I have been challenged to think critically. I think creative thinking is often a part of critical thinking and I have enjoyed this aspect of PLU's business department.

"An individual who can i identify an opportunity and then successfully organize, manage, and assume the risk of a business created from the opportunity is called an entrepreneur."
