Project Description Acquired Skill
Dreamweaver:
Anchors Anchors can make navigation through a webpage easier because users can quickly find the information they are searching for. Created anchors that allowed traveling from one section of the page to another. Also set up tables to hold and organize lengthy text.
Navigation Navigation is used in a variety of forms including text bars, buttons/rollover images, jump menus, and image maps. Designed and learned how to use each type of navigation. In addition, linking downloaded images and creating "hot spots" on the images to link to other sites.
Homepage Homepage is the main page of the website. It usually contains images, links and navigation tools for the user to learn more about the site. Created by using basic design skills learned from author Robin Williams. Skills also included inserting images, text, links, and tables.
Online Portfolio My online portfolio contains 5 different pages. Its purpose is to serve as a reference for anyone wanting to know a little more about me, including possible employers. By using the skills acquired from creating my homepage, I was able to compile different design elements to my new webpages.

Powerpoint:
Introduction Slideshow A powerpoint was created for the purpose of introducing myself to the class. The practice of using design skills were integrated in this project. CRAP rules were exercised through the process of creating the powerpoint. Contrast, repetition, alignment, and proximity were practiced throughout all five slides.
PP Revised A revised powerpoint slide show applying design rules for the purpose of increased effectiveness. Choosing appropriate colors, text, layout, and information to include on the slides. A master slide was created for consistency.
PP 1 To create a slideshow to be used as an aid to a speaker in a presentation. Using master slides for consistency and choosing appropriate colors, text, images, and information for this type of slideshow. Design was used as an effective visual.
PP 2 To create a slideshow to run on a public kiosk. Using master slides for a freely running slideshow. Pages were timed so slides change automatically.

Word:
Word This project included editing text from a multiple page document and reducing it to two or three pages while applying design principles. Edited repetitive information to reduce the amount of text and make it more user friendly. Created a more appealing design by adding text boxes, lines, and color contrast for visual ques.
Word 1 The goal of this project was to replicate a printed document using tools within word. The use of text boxes, layering text on images, wrapping text, making text size and font choices.

InDesign
Black & White To create a 3"x4" black and white advertisement for a lecture using given information. Line, shape, type, and texture was to be used, but not color. I applied my new knowledge of effective lline, shape, type, and texture in creating this ad. I learned how to make something stand out despite the lack of color.
Color Flyer To create a color ad using line, shape, type, texture, and color with given information. I made a dance ad that displayed all elements and concepts of design. I used color effectively and to enhance my flyer.
Brochure To create a tri-fold brochure for the study away program at PLU. Skills that were exercised include using the program without much prior knowledge, applying design basics, and creating a brochure that will be effective for a certain target audience and the organazation you are creating it for.
