Background information

I grew up in Fairport N.Y. and graduated high school there in 1986. I joined the U.S. Army that fall and spent the next two years at Ft. Lewis WA as an Indirect Fire Infantryman. I married in 1988 and moved back to N.Y. after active duty. I worked the next couple decades as a landscape contractor and National Guard soldier, raising two kids and putting my wife through college. After a 4 year break from the National Guard I rejoined following the events of September 11, 2001. As a Fire Support NCO I was mobilized with the 81st Brigade in 2003 and deployed to Iraq in 2004. While in Iraq I realized that I was being called to help people and that the medical profession was the best way to accomplish this. I chose the nursing program at PLU because of its reputation for quality training. I dont know what the future holds, but that is a new adventure.
