a recursive process where two or more people or organizations work together
toward an intersection of common goals — for example, an intellectual
endeavor that is creative in
nature—by sharing
knowledge, learning and building consensus. Collaboration does not require leadership and can sometimes bring
better results through decentralization and egalitarianism. In
particular, teams that work collaboratively can obtain greater resources,
recognition and reward when facing competition for finite resources.

Teamwork
Collaboration is key when there are cultural and language barriers.
Evidence
My past experience as a Fire Support NCO, Information Operations and Human Intelligence has given me powerful tools in the area of collaboration that will be helpful in nursing. To date collaboration with my peers and instructors has been minimal, but that will develop as I progress through the program. In N260 I was part of a group that collaborated on a historical view on nursing and a project that involved a community health issue. In N280 I collaborated with two classmates on a research project on degenerative spine disorders. More will be added as time goes on.
