I have been working hard in different businesses since I was 16 trying to find my strengths and weaknesses, as well as my interests. I enjoy learning about the different areas of business. As well as studying different companies trying to learn about their policies and structure. These are current companies that have caught my eye, but I recognize that there are many good companies out there waiting for me to discover.
Target Target was one of my first retail stores to work for. I was able to really gain a comprehensive overview of many of the different positions available. From cashier to store manager, all the way to various positions in the corporate office. Just a brief overview, in 1881 Marshall Field and Company was founded. In 1902 George Dayton opens Goodfellows. Target was introduced in 1962. In 1985 the weekly Target ad was second most read newspaper insert next to the comics. Target first introduced electronic scanning in 1987. 1995 was the start of Target RedCards (credit cards) and when the first Super Target was opened in Omaha, Nebraska. It wasn't until 2000 that the Dayton-Hudson Corporation was renamed the Target Corporation. And presently Target continues with their tradition of giving 5% of their income to charitable organizations. That translates to $3 million each week. Spirit Halloween Spirit Halloween Superstore is one of the most unique retail stores to ever have the chance to work for. Spirit Halloween literally is only around for four months out of the year. They move in swiftly almost overnight into empty buildings around the country to open shop for the holiday. Then as quickly as they came they leave the day after November first. No other retail store has been able to survive this type of life just yet. Each year Spirit makes to money to stay alive and come back for another fight. Halloween has become the second most profitable holiday outside of Christmas. Along with selling a large variety of Halloween costumes and decorations, Spirit also does it's part in helping supporting the community each year, by partnering with the Children's Hospital to collect donations to support the children. ![]() Spencer's In addition to being the most unique store in the mall Spencer's happens to be a very positive and upbeat store. Spencer's has proved to be a great store to work as well as visit, for they are always trying to find the next best way to make someone laugh. I must admit that I had never actually visited Spencer's until my employment, but I have enjoyed being there and the chances that they have given me to prosper. Spencer's has an open door policy. Meaning that they welcome questions and comments from anyone on the team. Send what you would like to the C.E.O just as long as you expect him to write back. I look forward to one day visiting corporate and learning more about the different ways that they function. Nintendo ![]() Nintendo is a company that I have yet to study. I grew up with many fond memories as a child thanks to Nintendo and I would like to have a part in being able to help create something extraordinary for future generations as well as my own to be able to enjoy. |
