Perspectives and Goals

Perspectives:

After high school graduation, I could not decide what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I worked several jobs and found I had a love for puzzles and numbers and I found myself balancing my checkbook for just for fun.  I especially liked the cost accounting work I did while working for Cenex. When my new husband told me he wanted to go back to school, I agreed on the condition that I go back also, because I finally knew my career choice.

Now that I am in school, I know that I will succeed in the accounting field, for it is what I want to do.  In addition, I have the determination to succeed in anything else that life throws at me. I have learned while at school and my job that life is a lesson to be learned and I can never learn enough. I have such a craving for knowledge: academically, spiritually, and personally. Life is way too short and I want to live it to the fullest. I also want to help others, because, as I heard on a movie, "helping others is the best way to help ourselves."

Challenges

Even though I am a people person, I am still shy at times. I have a hard time speaking up in some situations even when I am very certain of myself.

I also tend to overlook problems. Any problem that arises may have an easy solution, but I tend to drill on the problem until I know for certainty that all the issues are reflected upon. I fear being wrong or missing out on any possible solution that may benefit the most people, so I am never satisfied.

I undermine most of my work. When I get compliments for doing a job well done, I do not understand why I should be commended for doing a job to the best of my ability when that is what I was hired to do.

Goals

I want to be great at many things in life.  I want to be a great accountant, mother, wife, daughter, leader, community member, co-worker, friend, and so much more.  I want to learn as much as my memory can consume and hold.  I also like to help people and want to continue to do so.

But most of all, I want to enjoy my life. I have endured some hardships during my short existence and have lost loved ones in the past.  Because of this, I have realized that life is too short to just watch it go by.
