Reflective Introduction
As
a student in the Recreation program at Pacific Lutheran University, I
am challenged to learn and improve my professional skills, in the area
of Recreation. I understand that programming and planning for
recreation is not an easy task, as each community is made up of
different races, age, personalities, etc... Programming is so much more
than just forming an activity for fun. It's about bringing a community
together, of all different types of people, in order to form a bond
between each participant and their community. Not
only is it to bring communities together, but also for the individuals
benefit. Everyone has a need or two, and in order for that individual
to fill that need, they must find a solution to their situation. So, as
a Recreation Programmer, programs are used to fulfill the need of each
individual, by offering them programs that are beneficial for what they
need. More »
Career Plan
I would like to work as a Recreation Programmer and also a soccer coach, focusing specifically on teenagers. As of now, I work for Pierce County Parks and Recreation and lead many teen adventure trips throughout the year. Through this program, I have had the opportunity to receive much experience that will be useful down the road. In the near future, I plan on getting an intern position with a different Recreation Organization, other than Pierce County Parks and Recreation. I plan on joining Metro Parks, through their internship program. Not only will this look great on my resume', it will also challenge me in many different ways. I look forward to experiencing the programming process in more depth and learning new techniques and ways to be successful in building programs and community. I am looking forward to the journey towards my career and will conquer every challenging task with a willingness to improve.
PhilosophyMy Organizations philosophy is to provide opportunities for enriching the lives and meeting the recreational needs of the City of Loveland citizens. The purpose of this organization is to maintain and develop facilities and programs to provide a well rounded, positive program of leisure time activities for the people here in the community.
