WELCOME TO MY ONLINE PORTFOLIO

This portfolio will demonstrate what I am learning and experiencing throughout my three years in the nursing program at Pacific Lutheran University. As I grow and change through this time, my portfolio will also transform to express who I am as a nurse.

My Journey

I started my journey at Western Washington University. It wasn't until my first summer after freshman year, that I realized that God's plans for my life had changed from being a teacher to being a nurse. I lived with a nurse named Beky Harris, who was a nurse at Childrens Hospital in Seattle. I had tossed around the idea of nursing once or twice, but thought that I wanted to be an elementary school teacher. I decided to check it out and joined her for a 12 hour shift from 7pm to 7am. As soon as I stepped on that floor, I knew that that was where I needed to be. My parents were not sure, to say the least, when I told them of my plans, after all I was scared of hospitals when I was younger. I then started my journey of switching colleges, Western Washington, Whatcom Community College, Seattle Pacific University, and finally home- Pacific Lutheran University. It was a long and tiring process but I am finally where I belong and doing what my purpose is in life. I will tell you one thing.... It feels great!

Future Goals

» Right now I have a few goals. I would like to incorporate my passion for children and taking care of others and become a pediatric nurse. I would love to get the opportunity to work at Childrens in Seattle.

» Another goal is to do travel nursing. I have always had this itch to travel and explore. Going to other areas in the US or to other countries would be great personal growth and great experience for my nursing skills. Travel nursing is also a way to help those in need and share life with others.
