Sued.....Who Me?

Sued....Who Me? How to Limit Risk

Thursday, September 20, 2007, 6:00 – 8:30 pm

Most of us have became nurses because of a calling to alleviate suffering, to treat our fellow man with respect and to provide the best care possible.  Unfortunately we live in a litigious society driven by fear, and the publics' unrealistic expectation that the medical profession can cure almost everything and if a bad outcome happens it's probably because we did something wrong.  Even when our intentions are good, our motives are pure we put ourselves at risk for being sued by what we don't document, even more than what we do document.  We increase our risk when we don't reflect our Nursing Process, the Standard of Care and the Nurse Practice Act.  This class will go over some of the ways we put ourselves at risk and how to "CVA" (cover our....ankles.)
