Mental health is fundamental to the overall health of the older adult, but often it is the most neglected part of a person’s plan of care. Stigma and confronting behaviors may pose real challenges for appropriate care and treatment. This interactive session will present common mental health issues facing many older adults such as depression, suicide, anxiety, sleep disorders, and substance abuse. We will explore appropriate assessment tools and evidence-based interventions. This session will challenge you to develop plans for promoting your clients’ mental health as well as your own.
