Dell Battery Recall
Dell has published information related to defective batteries in some of their laptops.
PLU may have purchased some Dell Inspiron and Latitude laptops suspected of having defective batteries. If you are using a Dell laptop, we encourage you to remove your battery and plug the laptop directly into a power source until we can determine if your machine was affected. Options for evaluating your laptop include:
- Visit the Dell web site to determine if your laptop contains one of these batteries. Clink on this link for the Dell press release and further instructions involving removing your battery. If you determine that your laptop is affected, bring the battery to the PLU Help Desk along with your name, department, phone number and barcode number of your laptop.
- Bring your laptop to the PLU Help Desk, 1st floor of the library. You will need to leave the laptop with us for an undetermined amount of time while we examine the computer. We will make every effort to return the laptop to you as quickly as possible.
The PLU Help Desk will contact the departments that use these specific laptop models to ensure that the laptops are identified and batteries are ordered for replacement.
