Mind Your Health - May is Mental Health MonthMany students today are involved with lots of activities, from school programs, to sports, to time with friends and more. When you’re so over scheduled, things suffer - like family time, personal time, grades, and even your mental health. Students who don’t have enough free time because they are over scheduled are more prone to stress, depression and lower self-esteem. In small doses, stress may be good for you when it gives you a burst of energy. But feeling a lot of stress-all the time- can take its toll on your body. Stress can make you feel run down. Long-term stress can lead to depression and anxiety disorder, a weakened immune system and heart disease. For ideas on how to manage life’s stressors, prioritize and find time to relax, contact PLU’s Counseling Center to schedule an appointment. For additional information visit Mental Health America.
